About Us

Operating as a vacation residence for intermediate term rentals, Makee Properties is a former boutique hotel sitting on a perfect edge of Waikiki. Conveniently located just two blocks from Waikiki Beach, each studio has a lanai (balcony) overlooking Honolulu’s majestic Diamond Head Crater, one of the most famous landmarks in the world. This section of Waikiki is quiet and relaxing-an ideal place to be near the action, but not right in the middle of it.

General

Located across from the zoo, on the “Diamond Head side” of Waikiki, the Ala Wai Golf Course, Waikiki Shell Amphitheater, and Kapiolani Bandstand are all within walking distance. Nearby Diamond Head Crater Park has a super hiking trail accessing beautiful panoramas of Waikiki. The “Sunset on the Beach” movie series and the regular activities at Kapiolani Park take place just down the block, often featuring live music, food, and a film screenings for the whole family to enjoy. The vibrancy of Waikiki awaits just out the door.

Each morning from the balcony the sunrise over Diamond Head and Kapiolani Park will be yours to behold. A 200-acre greenway in the middle of Honolulu, the park was named by King Kalakaua to honor his beloved wife, Kapiolani. Here the residents of the Waikiki and Diamond Head neighborhoods come to exercise and relax in true Hawaiian splendor.

Ten individual studio rooms are available. Each unit is fully furnished, includes linens and features a kitchenette with cooking utensils. Whether your desire is to explore all that Waikiki has to offer or simply enjoy the view from the lanai, Makee Properties is the perfect location for your Hawaiian vacation.

The Rooms

Our units are equipped with several amenities that will make your visit to Honolulu nearly as comfortable as your home.  High Speed Wireless and in-room wired Internet is available. Television with Direct TV satellite service and DVD players are provided.

The kitchenettes include the necessary cooking utensils, a microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker and 2-burner stovetop.

Each unit has air conditioning and a breezy balcony (lanai). King beds in every room. Naturally, linens are provided and access to a shared laundry room is included.  We provide a safe building with keyed lobby and keyed elevator access which is generally staffed during business hours. The building is clean with a quiet atmosphere that is private and relaxed. Whether you are traveling for business or pleasure, our rental units will meet your needs and ensure that your stay in Hawaii is a pleasant one.

 
“Million-Dollar View”
Our lanais have a spectacular panoramic view of Diamond Head and its surrounding region.  This expansive vista gives each unit a spacious feel and a constant reminder of being in paradise. The trade winds blow frequently down the hillsides bringing a cool breeze and creating a perfect balance of Hawaiian sun and fresh air.
 
Location, Location, Location
Just 30 minutes from Honolulu Airport, Makee Properties is located on the Diamond Head side of Waikiki. The building faces Kapahulu Avenue which marks the end of the condo/hotel stretch of Waikiki.
The building is across the street is the Honolulu Zoo, with Kapiolani Park lying just behind it.  Beyond this expanse of public green space is Diamond Head Crater State Monument. Created nearly 300,000 years ago in a single massive volcanic explosion, the 475-acre park is famous for its striking beauty and a hiking trail that accesses a beautiful overlook of the entire Waikiki area. 
 
The world famous Waikiki Beach is just a short walk down the block.
 
Also within walking distance are a number of restaurants offering Asian, Hawaiian, local and upscale foods.  
There are also a few nightlife choices such as Lulu’s Waikiki Surf Club that are close enough to reach on foot, but far enough away not to be bothered by the activity.
 

Waikiki Beach is arguably the most renowned beachin the entire world. Even local Hawaiians venture out to enjoy Waikiki’s beauty and mingle with the tourists.

Famous for its picturesque white sand beach, there is plenty of swimming, sunbathing and water activities to be had. Beginning surf lessons are easy (yes, you can probably surf on your first lesson!) There’s also boogie boarding and paddle boarding close by. For the milder experience, large sections of the beach are protected by seawalls and make the water calm and safe for anyone young and old!
